Next Aussie Hero Quilt Started.

This is the next Aussie Hero quilt started. This time I am using the Fast & Done quilt as you go method. This is the link to the tutorial on this method.

The change I have done is making my own grid for the size I need as I don't have the right sized rulers.  I have taped together two cutting mats and taped around the sides as my guides the size I need the backing to be.
This is the 14 inch batting pieces I need for each block.
I fold the backing into 1/4s to find the centre, do the same with the batting and line them up
They are now ready to pin together.
I will do this for all 15 pieces then add the quilt as you go to the tops.

A Lovely Surprise Gift.

Earlier this week I received in the post a surprise, a really lovely gift of orphan squares and half made left over blocks from the lovely Jodie. She is a brilliant toy designer who has recently branched out into fabric design too. Check out her blog.

The orphan blocks I think go nicely as two distinct groups. Adding my own stash to the projects I am thinking of group 1 as a baby quilt and group 2 as an adult lap quilt.
These half made blocks will be for a baby quilt. As soon as they are made I will show them and let you know what charity they will be going to. Thanks again Jodie,

Aussie Hero Quilts Continued.

Sydney Roosters is the next red white and blue Aussie Hero quilt I am making. All fussy cut out and vliesofix and ironed onto white fabric ready to stitch. The small details will be done using fabric markers.

Cats, Quilt And Shopping.

Tilli and Meggie sleeping in the sewing room this morning.
I took a lot of things to Savers. Clothing my nephew did not want any longer, I bought this set of wire baskets for $4. Before I had a pile of fabric that went in it's place. Now I can get to what I want without having to take the whole thing out. Very happy indeed.
