This is a very simple pattern for those just starting out knitting. The most common is the garter stitch, every row knit.
It can be used on any yarn type, Just do a test block first. I recommend using one size larger needles than the ball recommendation.
Cast on multiples of 4 + 2.
Every row is the same.
Slip the first stitch knitwise, knit 2, slip 1 purlwise, (knit 3, slip 1 purlwise) to last 2 stitches, knit 2.
This forms a lovely fabric that keeps shape nicely.
Great for quick scarves and baby blankets.
