Tilli and Quilt in Progress.

Tilli has found a new perch, One happy kitty!
Today I made a laundry bag to go with the quilt I just made, ready now to post on Monday.
Today I started on the next Aussie Hero Quilt. The request for this one is, The colour of the Philippine flag and/or the flag if possible.
I have appliqued the sun and stars and I will hand stitch then on so that they will stay on. The flag will have a binding all around so that it stands out. A border of colour 2 inches on each side and 3 inches top and bottom will be added next all around the main quilt to make it the right size.

Sewing Room Makeover, Quilt and Meggie.

Last night I started on giving my sewing room a make over. Moving the drawers from the window and putting the table in the middle of the room so that I can use all 4 sides.
I wanted more light to come in the room. Yarn has been moved to where the drawers used to be along with the filing cabinet and the boxes that used to be under the table. I can now open the blinds if I want to.
 View from the door.
My first real quilt from start to finish. This is the front.
This is the back, Finnish flag incorporated as a request. .
 Close up of quilting.
Meggie sleeping on her part of the pram. Too cute!

 I also won another prize!
A huge stack of tumbler blocks in many many colours, Don't you love the creative packaging!
This was from a wonderful blogger who makes the most incredible quilts, one of my inspirational places to visit, she makes many quilts for many different causes and the volume of her work is incredible, this is her blog.

I have been busy making cards to go with the laundry bags. Each laundry bag has a little gift pack to go with it. I have made my own post cards using photo paper, each pack gets 3 of these, a card with my details and a written note to thank them for what they do with a little bit about myself, an emery board a wrapped pen and a plain envelope with writing paper and some moist towelettes.
They are then placed in a plastic bag and popped into the laundry bag.
This was Tilli, I love how she in her sleep still talks, it is so very very cute.
Playing with block Ideas, This quilt is for an Aussie Hero based on the Philippine flag. It will have yellow stars appliqued later when I am happy with the layout.
It is fun just to move them around and see the patterns that it produces,
 Still playing,
More playing. I think I may be doing this for a little while longer before I decide what to do.

Quilting.

The quilt I am working on right now for Aussie Hero Quilts and Laundry bags is a blue and white one, this is the sashing strips ready to be separated for the rows. I assembled the blocks in much the same way, so much quicker and less tails to worry about.
I don't normally share what I eat, food ordinarily is a bit of a chore and a must do rather than a pleasure, but this is what I ate for my dinner yesterday and again I had the same thing today, and I really enjoyed it!  strawberries, blackcurrants, raspberries, grapes and button mushrooms.
This is the quilt I am working on.It has 4 lots of blue and white. 3 blues on the block and one on the sashing.
This is the block I have used.
Colours 1 and 2 stayed the same, but colours 3 and 4 have half the colours switched. This makes no 2 colours touching.
I will show more tomorrow in the day light when the colours will show up better. I am putting the strips of the quilt together this evening.

Re vamped Chair.

Today I went to the post office and as usual, Savers was the next place. I bought this chair for my sewing room.  Cost? $5.50 half price. Gas lift seat and variable back rest. The best thing is that it is smaller than the chair I had before in the room and has no arms. Much better for my space.
 I took off the seat.
 Took off the back.
Then this afternoon, recovered it and cleaned up the legs. The chair cover is now a wool hounds tooth in mid tone green and beige, tones in well with Meggies bed and the design board which are also covered with hounds tooth fabric.

This is a little sampling of what I have been up to in January.
