Applique.

My very first applique. First I made a stencil on paper, traced it onto cotton that has interfacing on it, then I coloured it in and cut it out
I then added a stabilizer to the back of the quilt top and blanket stitched it on.
This is the first of the many stylized butterflies that will be on the quilt. The feelers will be a close zig zag stitch. Right now it is just drawn on.

Aussie Hero Quilt.

This is the start of another Aussie Hero quilt. The request is for orange, flowers, butterflies and Southern Cross. First I cut the fabric into squares, put them into pairs and sewed them in chains. I then cut them apart and sewed the pairs together to make blocks of 4. They have been squared up to 11 inches. 3 blocks per row and 7 rows.
This is the layout. I will then sew them together row by row and will applique butterflies on the top.
