Christmas in July

This my contribution and what I have made for our Christmas In July meeting at our cloth doll club. Leather thimble kits. Our charity this year is Children in Need. The packaging is recycled cards, pretty little packets. I have made 45 kits. I found the pattern on the internet and this is the link.

School couch appliques are almost ready to go. They just need a few threads snipped.
All inspired from the book Cat and Fish.
This one is for the back of the couch and the others are for the two sides.
This is a hand puppet, a special request from my son Jonno for his work. this is his boss.
His hair is needle felted in in pure wool mohair. I had a lot of fun with this one, I hope he likes it.

Crafternoons

Sorry, no pictures, we were too busy sewing, but we had a great time making Barbie doll clothes, tracing the pattern onto interfacing and then pinning it onto the fabrics of their choice cutting it all out and sewing them by hand. Looking through my laces, braids, buttons and beads it was like having kids in a candy store, lots of happy chatter and they both went home with things to finish off and patterns for making other clothes too. We had a great day and looking forward to our next meeting. They really want to use the sewing machine but I think that to build up their knowledge and dexterity they need to be able to use the hand tools first. They are really looking forward to the net meeting, Hopefully we should have pictures by then.

Green Fairy Quilts

http://greenfairyquilts.blogspot.com.au/ What a wonderful bundle of fabrics, Would you like a chance to win? then go to Green Fairy Quilts and follow the prompts.

Charity Update.

This is the fabric I have posted off to Aussie Hero Quilts. 8 Kilos of fabric from Savers and Spotlight. I wanted to make some quilt blocks but I have not been well, and not enough time but I know that it will be used. A great organisation and very worthwhile charity. All the info on the right hand side of my blog.
I just wrapped them in heavy plastic bags and duct tape and it was perfectly fine to post that way, saves me from looking for a box the right size since it has nothing that can get damaged.
On Tuesday I had a phone call request for this so I have this week sewn and stuffed 50 Trauma dolls ready to be handed over this Saturday.
School couch appliques, I did not realise that the library had 2 couches, so I am making appliques for the other couch. Black and white is the theme for this one and images simplifies and inspired by the book Cat and Fish by Joan Grant and Illustrated by Neil Curtis. They are large, this one is 60cms by 40cms.
Both of the couches have the same furry fabric seats as the Story Telling Chair, I forgot to take a picture of them covered. this is 50cms by30cms
They will be sewn and vliesofix onto the chair in the same way as the mr men and little miss. The difference with this is that they will have a black border on them will look like picture frames and two more added so that there will be 3 pictures on the back and one on each side of the couch. and this is the 48cm by 35cms.
