Dyed Results.

This is the cotton fabric all done today. They have been washed and dried on the line, then washed  and dried again , ironed folded ready to use and put away. This afternoon I will be cutting and preparing the rest of the quilt covers I got yesterday to be turned into laundry bags.

Fabric Dyeing.

When the time was right I hand rinsed then individually until the water ran clear, then  I put them all together in the washing machine and did a full cycle.
There they are all hanging up on the line to dry. yellow, orange, green, blue and pink.

Fabric Dyeing.

This 100% cotton fabric was also part of the purchases that I made yesterday.
This is what I am doing with some of it. I cut it into fairly equal lengths, washed it in the machine, spun it and left it damp. Then I made up buckets of dye one at a time starting with the lightest. I will and have been pushing it down periodically and turning it. After 1 hour I will be rinsing  it out until the water runs clear and then hanging it up to dry. I will then wash it a few more times to make sure that the colours no longer bleed then it will be ready to use.

Greensborough Savers Shopping.

This needs a little bit of a back story. As you know through my posts I buy the majority of my fabrics for Aussie Hero Quilts and Laundry bag supplies from Savers in Mill Park. (That is my nearest store). The staff there are very supportive and made the suggestion of getting in touch with head office to see if  could get a special discount.
Well last week I had a lovely reply from Mick the Manager of the Greensborough branch letting me know that he had some rolls of fabric I might like to take a look at. this is the store details.
 108/114 Main St, Greensborough VIC 3088 ‎
I did that today, The brown is a medium weight cotton that all my bags will have for lining from now on! The other fabrics are rolls of polar fleece that will be toys for the Angels for the Forgotten Charity using this pattern especially designed for charity use.

as well as other patterns that I have been given permission to use.
I also got these lovely quilt covers from the Savers with an added discount of 25%. Throughout this searching I must have talked non stop about Aussie Hero Quilts because Mick said to call him again later on if I need more help. How great is that for service! All in all it cost me a round $100. Fantastic value, I am glad I had savings put aside for charity use.
 More Tilli pictures.

I will be making lots of these for the Angels for the Forgotten charity with the fabric I was given yesterday. My neighbor came around with some fabric samples that he saved from going to the tip.
Elastics from my stash are going to be used as well as these zippers I bought from a Salvation Op Shop (50 zippers for $4). that I bought when my daughter was down here a couple of months ago. I am thinking pencil cases.
This is just about half of the fabric swatches I was given yesterday.
This are the tutorials I will be using to make the pencil cases.
