 1 dozen blue and green and 1 dozen pink and cream capes and face masks done for the Angels for the Forgotten charity.

My next project is an Aussie Hero quilt, the request was for Westie terrier dogs, favourite colours are pink, blue and yellow.

Aussie Hero Quilt In Progress.

 This is the quilt I have started today. The theme is, Sports and travel.

 This is the back. I will be adding silhouettes of sporting figures. 

I bought something for myself on ebay, a recliner chair for $5. After sitting on a broken chair for 6 weeks I am excited to be able to sit comfortably.  It works fine, just a little worn, I will be dismantling it and recovering it in pure wool blanket fabric from my stash from Savers. All the parts will be a different colour and will be covered in applique. Plenty of pictures will be taken on how I am going to do it, Fingers crossed I can then put it back together and it works!

Next Project.

 This is the next quilt in the making. All fabrics have been washed and ironed this morning so now I am getting them ready into blocks.
The Tweety hearts will have the blocks facing this way,

 The Sylvester blocks will face this way. Sylvester faces are hand drawn using fabric permanent pens, washed, tested and colourfast. Picture found on the internet.

All the middle pinwheels will be going into my pinwheel box for a baby charity make later on.
I have some large Tweetys that will be appliqued on top of the quilt when it is all assembled.

Quilt Design Decided.

 Blocks, sashing and corner stones have been chosen. The quilt will be 3 blocks wide by 5 blocks long. The next row will be blue, red, blue and then red, blue, red. The sashing is 2 inches wide, the blocks are 11 inches square. The colours do not read like what is shown because the light in my room is not the best. The closest colours are the first 2 squares.

This first fabric I was given ages ago for charitable use (I knew I would find a use for it one day!)
2 inches is the best I can do to fussy cut and makes the most of the fabric which made the decision for the sashing width.
The second fabric is what I bought from Spotlight the other day, neutral with touches of red and blue.
Finally a border will be added to make the whole thing the correct size. 

Quilt Blocks.

This is the 12 inch block cut into 4 inch equal bits and by turning the rows around before sewing back into blocks you get these. 9 slightly different blocks. I am beginning to understand the fascination with quilting.
I think If I make all the blocks like this, and have strips in between them to break them up I think it could be interesting.

I sewed the top 2 together then the bottom 2 together,

 then I had a play with the two pieces and this is what happened. Pretty cool!

This is what I decided on. All the blocks I have cut up ready to sew are a mixture of 3 colours, red, white and blue.

Super Hero Capes.

 Today I am making 8 Super Hero Capes for kids using this pattern.

I first printed it onto paper then using the roll of curtain fabric that I got from Savers made a more permanent template. (I knew I would find a use for it!) This is what I will be using that roll for in the future too. From the width of the roll I cut out on the fold 2 capes, then on the next fold I had the capes facing the other way, minimizes wastage. The larger pieces will be used for toys and the smaller pieces for the logos.

This is 4 of the polar fleece cut out for the outside of the capes.I cut the fleece in the same way as I did the lining.

Girls Comforter.

Made this this afternoon, a girls comforter 45 inches by 45 inches. For Angels for the Forgotten Charity. Pink polar fleece backing.

This is the group shot. They will all be going today along with all the other bits and pieces I have put together collected this month. All the patterns I have used have super instructions and easy to follow. I can say I am a big fan of polar fleece for toys now.

This is the first of many more bears to come. All of the bears will be going to the Angels for the Forgotten Charity this year.

Aussie Hero Laundry Bags.

A couple of days ago I set myself a challenge, I just wanted to see how many I could make in one day. I made 20 laundry bags. Today I posted them. It was a fun challenge that I do not see myself breaking any time soon!

4 Inch Box of Strips

 This box is full of strips 4 inches wide. (The size needed for Aussie Hero laundry bag tops) all left over fabric from the bags made and from the PNG quilt fabrics.

 This is how I am going to use them. First I sew three strips together, top and bottom one the same. Cut them into 10 1/2 squares, sew three squares together to make a strip, turning them around so that the seams do not meet. Do the next strip so that they turn in another direction, sew those two together.

The last strip is just like the first one. The only seams that intersect are the ones in the middle block. Super easy, Super quick! Great for beginners like me! The finished size is 30 inches square Just lovely for a baby wrap The last thing to add is a border to make it fit the 36 inch squares I have already cut out.

PNG Quilts.

 This is the first of the whole piece fabric quilts I am making for PNG.  You can see why I did not want to chop this one up! This fabric was from Spotlight. I had just under 2 metres of it a remnant and I am making 2 quilts with it and the rest went into the scrappy quilts. To finish it off I will lightly stitch the corners of each flower block. this is also 36 inches square in size.

 This is the back, from a quilt cover from Savers.

The batting is upholstery batting,  I bought a roll on ebay a while back for such an occasion. much cheaper but a little uneven in places so not really suitable for large quilts but fine for these little snugglies.

More PNG Quilts Continued.

 Another variation on a theme. This time instead of cutting on the diagonal, just off set the centre block. Again in 12 1/2 inch blocks of three.

Sew them together. Add two more rows and another top is done.
