Shopping Bargains.

Regular readers of my blog will know that I am charity obsessed. Even when I am not making stuff I am always on the hunt for good bargains for my charity makes, so when at the Kingsbury Market yesterday I came across a card stall I had to have a look. Australian made cards on recycled materials 10 for $1.50 which works out at 15c each. I spent $18 for 120 cards.  Usually each Aussie Hero laundry bag gets a card that I make myself, but I cannot make them cheaper than this. Another way of looking at it is each box has 4 laundry bags in it so now I have enough cards for 29 boxes. I have saved time and money, love it!

Tuesday's Treasures.

This is my Tuesdays Treasures. My favourite books  are these Ore What! by Peter Adams all about the stories and the people living at Hill End in NSW. http://www.hillend.org/ One of my favourite places to visit. The other two books are about William Ricketts. I went to visit this place many years ago and it changed me. http://parkweb.vic.gov.au/explore/parks/william-ricketts-sanctuary-gardens-of-the-dandenongs

Bumper Week

This was a wonderful week. I had the best week ever, My daughter came down from Bathurst to spend some time with us this week. She made this wonderful laundry bag, I know it will be very well received.
We did some cooking in the oven, this is just part of the dish, potatoes with cheese and leeks. I forgot to photograph the lovely fish parcels.
 Meggie.
this is the other side of the laundry bag my daughter made.
This pile of fabrics is bundles of laundry bags cut out ready to sew.
On the Friday we went out with one of my good friends Melody
 http://thehouseonthesideofthehill.blogspot.com.au/
where my daughter drove us in Melody's car, a wonderful thing to do and these sheets were amongst the bargains I bought. Perfect for the laundry bag linings. (the sheets are white, my shadow is making them look yellow).
We went to a couple of patch work shops too and I bought this delightful cat pin cushion and Jodies birds. The cross stitch kit was from an op shop and is for the Crafternoon Stash.
I have been busy making the cords for the laundry bags too. Making up sets of 4 as I go along. I have the ball in a hat box threaded through a hole and it keeps the yarn from rolling all over the place as I use it.
It was my Husbands Birthday on Sunday and my niece had a barbeque party with all of the friends and family around to celebrate. A wonderful week.

Making Cord.

An up date on yesterdays cord making. Earlier on today I realised that I could make this cord even quicker by using a knitting Nancy and so I took off two if the pins and left 2 pins on. Much quicker cording.

Spotlight Sale Yesterday.

Yesterday I went to Spotlight with two $10 vouchers, One Birthday voucher and one from their own magazine, They also had 40% off their fabric so I chose these, Laundry bags will be fabulous!
They also had this on sale too, Moda Vera Gypsy at 50c a ball. As soon as I saw this I knew what i wanted to do, Make my own cord.
Really really easy, Using two double pointed needles cast on 2 stitches, knit, slide the stitches back to the front, don't turn the needles and then knit.
Keep doing that until you have the length you need. cast off. weave the ends in and you have your cord. Very easy and very cheap.
