Cards And Cups.

 Today I went out Savers shopping in Greensborough. I am always looking for Aussie Hero stuff and so I bought these cards, 2 packets of 40 blank cards for $4 each and these photo paper packs for $3. The Thank you and heart cards are fine as they are and the babe cards will be altered.

 Crosswords with answers and word search and cards are ready to use.

I did not have a single cup and saucer in my house as we all drink from mugs. This is what I actually was on the hunt for. Cup and saucer and tea plate set. Bonus is that it is 1962, my birth year. $6 the set. This is for our 21st birthday high tea celebration at A.C.D.A. cloth doll club next week. I found this cutlery too. Silver plate. All are 1960s. $2 each piece. It is official, I can classify myself as being vintage!

Aussie Hero Laundry Bags.

  My choices of fabric start at the op shops. Primarily Savers because it is close by. A couple of reasons for this, I like to re use and recycle as much as possible, It helps another charity at the same time, I have a good relationship with them. Get to know your local op shop and see what happens.

  I am writing this piece to help you think about the fabric possibilities out there, I use sheeting, quilt covers and even cotton curtains. I take my time in there and turn everything inside out before I buy to make sure that what I get I can use Check the labels too to make sure that it is indeed cotton For linings I like to add colour, even if it is a pop of colour, even floral. Nothing wrong with a bit of femininity in the laundry.

Stripes, plain, patterned It all adds to the surprise.

 

For the outer covers I look for pop culture, cartoons, movies Kids prints are great as the bags are often given to their children when they go home. and generic fabrics. Lots of bright pops of colour. Here are some examples.

All this lot of fabrics I bought from Savers yesterday.

 I was in the queue when I spotted a neighbour and got chatting. I told her about Aussie Heroes, gave her my card (I made some at home with my blog header and printed a copy of Aussie Heroes on the back, 2 for 1). I also had a 50% off card when you spend $50 or more, My exact amount I had on me, telling her this, she just like that gave me $20 to get some more fabric, So I did!

So this is it all, Cut up and ready to sew, 114 pairs of fabric equals 57 bags ready to sew.

New Sewing Machine.

Look at my new sewing machine. Purchased it at Savers Mill Park for $60. Brand new and works like a dream. I love it!

Fabric for Laundry Bags.

 Today I went to Savers in Mill Park and bought this lovely roll of medium weight cotton to do the lining of the laundry bags. A Great find as I have just finished with the last roll of grey when I was out with Melody, Great timing!

I also bought this lovely green and white check tablecloth and this lovely purple bulls eye quilt cover which will be perfect for the outer part of the bags. I made some bias binding yesterday afternoon. While I was out I bumped into some friends who had already been to my place to pick up some dresses that were going to the Philippines and missed me there, they then thought of going to Savers to see if I was there. I saw them coming out so I got a lift home, (I was so happy cos the fabric roll was heavy). 15 dresses are now getting sent to the Philippines. Not a bad mornings work!
