PNG Baby Quilts/Wraps.

 The Internet at my house has been down for a few days so this is going to be a big post! I have started making the PNG Quilts/baby wraps. This roll of cotton waffle fabric is ideal for the backing of some of them.

 I also found this fleecy at Savers.

 I cut out thirty six 6 1/2 inch squares, sewn them into 3s 

 sewn those into rows.

 Then I cut them in half.

 Trimmed them into 8 1/2 inch blocks.

 Sewed 4 together in a row.

 Sewed those rows together to make a 32 inch square.

 Added the backing and turned it right sides out. I will be sewing the opening closed and stitching it all around the outside and add some quilting to it. I have got 4 of these sewn as tops so far.

These are some of the other materials that I am going to use for PNG. They are 36 inches square and will be sewn whole. I have 15 of these.

This week i have been busy starting my charity stuff this week, These delightful dolls are from http://byhookbyhand.blogspot.com/2010/04/prairie-flowers-original-cloth-doll.html a free pattern that is utterly delightful. I have been given this lovely pink linen and I think it will be perfect for this. 14 dolls getting sewn and cut out ready to stuff. My plan is to have them in zip lock bags with 2 outfits each.
This is the knitting and crochet so far this week, All in 4 ply from the wool I was given last week. 2 blankets done, 2 sets of hats and booties and 1 jacket so far. Each bag will contain a baby set and a toy in each pack. It is good to get back into the groove.

More baby blankets on the way thanks to this wonderful lot from Savers in Greensborough. Using 6.5mm needles and garter stitch this knits up lovely and soft and light. This yarn is called Chenille Yarn from Craftworks.

This is the baby sets so far. Each set has a blanket, cardi, booties, hat and mittens and soft toy I have 5 baby blankets to make and a toy to stuff to complete these sets. The next progress shot will be the bears, rabbits and baby dolls with their quilts. I need to get more bags to put them in first.

A blanket, booties, hat and mitten set. 5 ply pure wool. I have 5 blankets to make to complete the baby sets. I have been packaging them up today and will take pictures of both the completed sets and the partial sets tomorrow. I need to get some more zip lock bags first.

I have yet to do the eyes and nose and sew up the seam, but it is the first attempt at the simple 3 piece bear, work in progress.
Side shot. I am happy so far with the roundness of the tummy but the face needs work. I think I need to curve the front of the face more and make the ears more to the side. I think at the moment it is looking a little mouse like.

Crochet blanket a hat and booties and currently working on a jacket to match. The Jacket will have the blues and purples in it too. Notice the background? A long awaited and much needed new ironing board cover, Lovely and bright.

I am busy making up sets for the Charity Makes today, using large zip lock bags. Each of the baby sets will have a blanket/wrap, cardi, booties, hat and a soft toy.

Makes this week are 2 knitted cardi's, a hat and a crochet blanket, currently working on a pair of booties to match the hat.

25 pairs of wings have been cut out. I am changing the pattern because i was worried about little bits possibly being chewed. So, to adapt it for my purpose I am going to sew the wings directly onto the body. I have ironed on interfacing first to stabilize the fabric and then cut them out.

25 Little Bird bodies sewn. I have used safety eyes on most of them. Sewing the wings today. Hopefully i will get my hands on some stuffing soon. This woolen fabric is a dream to work with, lovely and soft and easy to cut.

This is what i have been making. 2 cardies, one to finish sewing up, a hat and started a lovely multicoloured cardi. and a bootie to finish.

I will also get sewing today too! Yippie!I will be making as many of these lovely Little Birds as i can! I am looking forward to that!

I have been busy drawing out and sewing and cutting some Trauma dolls this morning, Tilli, less than clean, (luckily it is just on her back) decided that i should stop and give her some attention.
Half an hour later she decided that she had had enough and is now cleaning herself in the sun.
This months dolls are all cut out, 11 have been stuffed and 12 will be taken to doll club to be stuffed.

Look what arrived at my front door this morning, A wonderful parcel of woolen fabric from Jodie Carleton of Ric-Rac http://vintagericrac.blogspot.com/
The pure joy of opening a parcel was so much fun for me you cannot imagine! I will be making for charity Jodie's delightful free pattern Little Birds with this fabric, and they will go under the K.Mart Wishing Tree this year along with the baby clothes and blankets as a package.
This fabric is delightfully soft and warm and will make the most wonderful little toys.

I am working on a cream cardi at the moment, this is what i have made this week. 4 hats, 3 cardies, 6 pairs of booties and 4 trauma teddies. I would dearly love to do some sewing, i am missing doing that at the moment but i have run out of fiberfill, still it is my birthday next month and hopefully one of my kids will ask me what i would like, so fingers crossed!

This pram blanket is knitted squares of fluffy yarn mixed with cream wool and crochet together with cream wool. the cardi is acrylic.
