Aussie Heroes Shopping.

Posted a parcel this morning, and as usual since I was already out, we went to Spotlight. I am always looking for bargains to put into the care packages to go with the quilts and laundry bags. Got a really good bargain today, Lip balm, Terra Firma brand natural lip balms. Usually they are $5 each but today they were on special for 50c each. I bought the lot, 89 lip balms for $44.50 saving me $400.

Spotlight Shopping.

For me it is normal practice to take a look in Spotlight after being at the post office. This is what I found today, Beautiful variegated threads at $3 each instead of $10 each. They really make a plain quilted background pop.

Spotlight Shopping.

I went to Spotlight to look for more masculine fabric if they were on special. They have in my Spotlight store  (South Morang) a selection of fabrics reduced from $6 a metre and $10 a metre with an extra 30% off at the checkout.
One of the fabrics was reduced to $2 a which made it at $1.40 a metre, I bought the lot, 10 metres of it. Perfect for the laundry bag linings. The rest I bought 2 metres each at $4.20 a metre. Great value.
To give it perspective, Each laundry bag uses 2 metres of fabric with enough left over to make 1 quilt block.

Savers Shopping And Sewing.

I went to Savers today with a wish list in my head for black embroidery thread to do the face on my cat I made yesterday. My wish was granted! Look at what I bought today. Look at the lovely embroideries in it! I think I will use them for prezzies on the top of wool pincushions.
Both of these bundles were tightly packed and not sure what I had bought until I got home and opened them. All complete and unused.
I also bought this bundle too, so cute!
I have started on the next quilt on my list, this Aussie hero request is for black and blue and Aussie flag.
These will be done as giant quilt as you go blocks, Making 6 of them, and the red squares will have the Aussie flag appliqued onto the red in each block. I will be using bias binding between the blocks. Once I have done them and sewn them together I will decide if it needs a border or not.

Savers Shopping.

No sewing yesterday as I spent all night shampooing the carpets in the whole house and they took all day to dry so I went to Savers. Got what I needed, files for the cabinet for $2 and today I filled them.
Also bought these satin rolls of ribbon, I will be using them for dresses and the edges of blankets/ comforters.
I had an Idea and went to see if it would work, and it does! Using the bias binding makers that do not come with the machine, I just used duct tape to hold it on I ran the ribbon through the machine straight from the roll.
I ran it through twice and was happy with the result.
Then I ran some other that I had folded in half without the bias maker, again I ran it through twice.
Ready for use. The first one is the ribbon in half and the other two are the ones using the bias maker.
