Today i am venturing out for the first time in quilting and this is the book i am going to use. Start Quilting with Alex Anderson. 6 Projects for the First Time Quilter.
This describes me perfectly and i am eager to start.
the second book is what i aspire to do for charity, A Pioneer Doll and her Quilts by Mary Hickey.
Any quilter out there be free to send me their favourite tips.

I used to watch Alex Anderson's quilting show on tv. I don't know if she still does it but it was always interesting with really good, helpful hints. I, myself, got my start in quilting by taking a quilting class at a local shop. I learned a tremendous amount so if the book isn't as helpful as you hoped, see if there are classes at a local quilt shop. Good luck with the quilting .. it's one of those hobbies that can very quickly become addicting!

I used to watch Alex Anderson too! I really liked her and Georgia Bonesteel when they were on TV. My advise is start small and be patient. Yoou have to accept making mistakes and making the wrong color choices sometimes. I have quite a few unfinished quilts that just didn't do "it" for me. Classes are fun because you meet other quilters and learn little tricks in quilting. Cathy is right about it being addictive. Make room for the fabric addiction you are about to be a prisoner to for the rest of your life. lol
ReplyDeleteHow exciting! I am too scared to start quilting just in case I might get hooked on it :D
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see your new projects (BTW I am very impressed about your paper making skills. They are really gorgeous!)
Hope you had a great weekend!
