I have been working on the tree added the branches with leaves and oranges and lemons for a colour pop. The cat and the ape have been sewn onto the tree too.
All the animals have been sewn in place on this side of the chair. The panda needs a kite that will apear to be flying then this side of the tree will almost be finished. I have a fairy to add and birds too in the tree.
The quilts have been put on the chair to protect it from the cats, Meggie has pulled it down from the top of the chair, then given up trying to get underneath it and decided it was enough and fell asleep.
Not finished yet, Still work in Progress, Calcifer from Howls Moving Castle the cartoon movie. He is needle sculpted felt perched on fabric logs. this is on the front lower part of the chair.
This is my interpretation of the Very Hungry Caterpillar. Legs are curtain fabric from England many years ago, the yarn for the spine and the head is from my stash, the body and underbody are trousers from Savers.

I am still working on the School Library Chair at the moment. I am loving it, reading the books that will inspire me to make them into 3d form too.
This is eric in his cup, The cup is not finished yet, still needs the band around the rim, but it is close. I won't be showing the sides on my blog just yet. I still have a long way to go. But best of all it is FUN!
The clown wig from Savers has been dismantled.
They have been sewn into spiral loops and hot glued onto the spay painted twigs. Grass cardboard templates have been cut out and are ready to use.
This is my original pattern design for the Lorax. My design tip that will save you time, money and paper. How I work is by using free cardboard from your groceries, (I also have friends who save me theirs). It is easy to cut and is recyclable. When I am happy with my shapes I then place them onto A4 paper and trace. If the pieces over lap use a different coloured pen. Scan it.
This is now saved onto your computer and it can be easily be made to the size you want it to be. You add the seam allowances after. My favourite tool to use for enlarging is called PosteRazor. this is the link.
This is just a teaser of the things I am making for the chair as I want to keep it a surprise for the school and will then post the finished item then.
Wow, I cannot believe that it is over a week since I last blogged, Where did that time go? This is just a sneak peek at the chair in progress, it is coming along. My daughter and her hubby came down from Bathurst on Friday to go to a wedding on Saturday and left to go home on Sunday, a very quick visit, So good to chat with her face to face and to give her a real hug.
I have been shopping on ebay for supplies, I needed this and got it for $8 for 25 metres.
then I needed velcro, so back on ebay after checking out Savers first and not finding any, well you won't believe this but I bought the lot from one place only 8 minutes away from home.
plus eight and a bit rolls of webbing for $24. More than enough for the project on hand and for the rest of my life too! It does not matter that the loops and the hooks do not match, they won't be seen. I am thinking big here, moveable scenery and costuming applications just for a start.
