Mid Year Count.

As is the custom I celebrate the mid year mark by doing a count of my charity makes. This year I have made so far, 5 toys, 25 quilts and 72 laundry bags.

All the blocks have been quilted, the appliques cut out ready to iron on and sew.

Next Aussie Hero Quilt Started.

Parramatta Eels, White York Rose is the request for this one. The white rose will be turned into appliques.
Spotlight has the rotary blades on special, 40% off. Happiness is a sharp rotary blade. I must confess I do not change them often enough.

All the blocks have been sewn, now to put it all together.

Spotlight shopping. 50 metres of cotton fabrics for the quilt backs at $2 a metre. Using the Spotlight  $40 off voucher when you spend $100 it came to $60. Original price of fabric was $6 a metre and it would come to $300, total real life saving, $240.

Next Aussie Hero Quilt Started.

This is the layout of the next Aussie Hero quilt. The request is for red white and blue, Melbourne Victory, Western Bulldogs and Tottenham Hotspur. The pictures are for reference for the teams uniforms. The tops will be applique and the logos, T shirt transfers. In between the rows will be solid red, blue, red squares on row 2, then on row 4 it will be solid squares of blue, red, blue.

This is the start of my next Aussie Hero quilt. The pictures on the left will be turned into appliques. The picture on the right is a T shirt fabric photo transfer. the other blocks will be blues.

Batting Donation Cut.

The batting has been cut ready to be used for Aussie Hero quilts. Enough for 11 quilts plus a couple of other blocks. This is including all the left over pieces pieces together. Thank you so much Eva.

Shopping And Donations.

 Yesterday I went to our cloth doll club (ACDA) and one of the fabulous ladies there  (Eva) gave me this lovely bag of cotton batting. I have put a pen on the top for scale. Thank you so much Eva, Many many quilts for Aussie Heroes will come from this.

Spotlight shopping. Making the most of the $40 Spotlight voucher. The patterned fabric was $2 a metre, I am thinking of quilt backings and laundry bag linings for this, and female pillowcases. The plain cotton fabric was also on special and for the footy/rugby quilts I bought 2 metres of each. Amount saved was $95.
